During check-in you will be able to pick-up your Rocket Family Weekend bundle including: t-shirts (preordered), family weekend wristbands, schedule of events, and various photo opportunities.听
JCPenney Rocket Suit Up
Time: 3 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.
Franklin Park Mall
Enjoy a little shopping trip to the local JCPenney's to stock up on professional clothing for yourself and your student! The JCPenney Rocket Suit Up event is a great opportunity to get clothing for work, interviews, internships - including suits, dresses, sports coats, dress pants, shoes, and accessories with 30% off! 听
Rocky's Friday Night Bash
Time: 7 p.m. - 10 p.m.听
Flatlands
The Rocket Family Weekend kickoff will include music from WXUT, a bonfire, yard games, and numerous food trucks from the City of Toledo for your family to enjoy. Each Rocket Family Weekend package will include a total of 10 Rocky Bucks to utilize at the food trucks for the night.听
Make sure to grab your family photo with our mascots Rocky and Rocksy or members of our spirit squad, Blue Crew!
Ritter Planetarium Show: Chasing the Ghost Particle
Time: 8:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m.
Ritter Planetarium
Deep in the ice at the heart of Antarctica, IceCube, the biggest and strangest detector in the world waits for mysterious messengers from the cosmos. Scientists are using tiny and elusive particles called neutrinos to explore the most extreme places in the universe. These ghostly neutrinos give us an exclusive way to study powerful cosmic engines like exploding stars and black holes.听
The show starts promptly at 8:30 p.m. and there is no late entry for safety concerns.听

419 Music Fest is an all-day music festival located at Promenade Park in Downtown Toledo. This is a charity fundraiser for Toledo Firefighters local 92 charities. Music starts at noon, with the last band taking the stage at 9 p.m. Catch some of the best local bands in the 419! Music, food trucks, and beverages served all day long.听

Ritter Planetarium Show: One World, One Sky: Big Bird's Adventure (Child Focused)
Time: 1 p.m. - 2 p.m.听
Ritter Planetarium
This is the perfect age-appropriate introduction to the night sky for children ages three and half to six. One World, One Sky, Big Bird's Adventure is a full-dome show that follows Sesame Street's Big Bird and Elmo as they explore the night sky with Hu Hu Zhu, a Muppet from China. Together they take an imaginary trip from Sesame Street to the Moon, where they discover how different it is from Earth. One World, One Sky, Big Bird's Adventure aims to nurture a child's natural sense of wonder about the night sky while connecting kids across nations through a common bond in learning about the sky.听

Ritter Observatory & Brooks Observatory
Wrap up the night with a visit to either of our observatories on-campus to get an enhanced view of the night sky over campus. We are expecting a full moon and Saturn and its rings will be visible! The Ritter Observatory houses the largest telescope east of the Mississippi River!听
